Faith: A Journey of the Unseen

Faith, I thought, was simply belief,
A certainty, a knowing deep,
That in the heart, no doubt could stay,
Even when sadness led the way.
But as I looked with eyes unclouded,
A truth emerged, once shrouded,
A truth I found, though not by chance;
Faith begins with a single glance.

For in the beginning, high above,
In Heaven’s halls, a question moved,
Lucifer, in his perfect place,
With cherubim, stood face to face
With God Himself, his heart unclear,
And asked a question, born of fear:
“Why?” he asked, “Why not me?”
And thus, from that one simple plea,
A storm began, with doubt and pride,
A cosmic struggle, he could not hide.

In that moment, was it pride that grew?
Or a seed of doubt, uncertain too?
For Lucifer’s great power, his might,
His infinite years of endless light,
Led him to question Heaven’s plan,
To wonder why, and understand:
Why am I not the one on top?
Why must I, too, not stand and walk?
And so it grew, from thought to seed,
A question born of unmet need.
And though it seemed like pride to see,
The root was faithlessness, you see,
Faith in the order, the world’s design,
Faith that all would be divine,
If only he would trust the place
That God had set, with endless grace.

But Lucifer’s weapon, sharp and clear,
Was not a sword, or cruel spear.
It was a question, deep and wide,
A thought that whispered, then replied.
To Eve, he asked, “Why not be like God?”
To Job, he asked, “What if your riches fade?”
To Jesus, he said, “What if you had it all?”
A question planted, to make them fall.

This is the battle, fought with words,
Not actions, not deeds, not swords,
But ideals clashing, hearts unmade,
For faith is not easily swayed.

When Job was tested, in his despair,
God asked him questions, hard to bear:
“Gird up now thy loins like a man;
for i will demand of thee, and answer thou me,
Where were you when I shaped the foundations of the earth?
declare, if thou hast understanding.
Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest?
Or who hath stretched the line upon it?"
"Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven?
Canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?
Who hath put wishdom in the inward parts?
Or Who hath given understanding to the heart?”
It seemed a rebuke, harsh and cold,
But Job’s faith, like fire, turned to gold.
For in those questions, God made clear,
The distance between them, far and near.
And through this pain, Job came to see,
That faith is not for those who seek,
But for those who trust, with hearts complete.
To walk without questioning, to stand without doubt,
Is to show the faith that comes from within, no doubt.

Faith without works is dead, it’s true,
Not because you’re perfect, but because you knew,
That in each step, though your knees may bend,
You trust in the promise that will never end.
To believe is not to seek proof of His might,
But to walk in His truth, through the darkest night.
It’s knowing that, though our sins abound,
God’s word stands firm, it will not drown.

And this is why, those blessed more,
Are those who trust, who seek no more,
Who believe without seeing, or hearing a sound,
Who walk with God, their feet on the ground.
For to believe is not to grasp or take hold,
It’s to trust in the mysteries, untold.
To say, “Forgive me, though I’m lost in sin,“
And move forward, trusting His light within.

This is faith: pure, simple, strong,
To walk without questioning, to move along.
For faith isn’t a choice for the wise or the great,
It’s a surrender, a knowing that seals your fate.
To know that when He speaks, it will be done,
To rest in His promise, knowing you’ve won.
